Riot Act

Well he may not have jumped to the top of the leaderboard... But Waffles did in fact win Event #5 of the NYRPS, the HOSE event. Fitting that a Hoser won the HOSE event... but whatever...

12 people signed up in this quiet holiday week, but that number is sure to jump next week when the Pot Limit Omaha Dime Rebuy!

PirateLawyer took his second runner-up finish, and Dr. J takes 3rd place.

Though I finished in 6th, I didn't leave empty-handed as I basically got my buy-in back thanks to a side bet me and PL offered to Waffles, where I offered him 5-1 odds against PirateLawyer Bubbling (while we were 4 handed and 3 getting paid)... he took it and PL took the action as well, and iaatg6296 was our bubble, so i say ship it plzkthx.

Here are the updated overall standings:

iaatg6296 130.5
Oaklandish 128
ferrisbuellr 125
bloodslut 110.9
PirateLawyer 109.6
NYRambler 75
Maniac57 60
twoblackaces 57
DukeMuscle 52.2
mookie99 51.2
NumbBono 45
ScottMc 38
TheSlinger 34.8
bayne_s 28.8
jeciimd 24

And the 5 donkeys who are locked into the TOC are...

iaatg6296
Oaklandish
ferrisbuellr
NYRambler
Maniac57

Again, next week is the PLO Dime Rebuy... start pimping your blogs now for a big turnout just like we had in the NumbBlowMe!

The Host With The Most!

That's Right. I Pwned the Donkeys tonight! 15 guys decided to sacrifice the time of the Christmas Season to play the Pot Limit Hold 'em version of the NYRPS.

I came into the Final Table as the Chip Leader...

The Chip Lead went from myself to bloodslut to Numb and basically around the three of us through most of the tournament. Bloodslut wound up bubbling in fourth place. The final 3, thus making the points and the money, were NumbBono, Myself, and last week's winner, ferrisbullr. Ferris went out in 3rd leaving me and my BDR co-host, NumbBono, fighting for the title. 9-3 of spades gave me a Flush and a double up against Numb's Kings and Fours... then the Final Hand...

And I say SHIP ITTT. Great Game though, Numb. You'll be back at the Final Table soon enough, with HORSE coming up soon.

Here are the updated standings....

iaatg6296 130.5
Oaklandish 128
ferrisbuellr 125
bloodslut 110.9
NYRambler 75
PirateLawyer 73.6
twoblackaces 57
DukeMuscle 52.2
mookie99 51.2
NumbBono 45
ScottMc 38
TheSlinger 34.8
bayne_s 28.8

I also locked up my seat at the TOC with iaatg, Oaklandish and Ferris.

Next Week, if you're not celebrating any holidays, is HOSE (That's HORSE without the Razz!).

And in TWO WEEKS... THE OMAHA DIME REBUY!!!

NYRPS Event #4

The Pot (Limit) Run Continues on December 22... NYRPS Event #4 is Pot Limit Hold 'em on Full Tilt!

The Password is 'epicfail' (just like the Jets)

I will be broadcasting from www.buddydankradio.com as usual.

Speaking of BuddyDank... He went VERY deep in the Blogger Freeroll Finals, taking home 12th Place... Still good enough for 320T$! (or a Ticket to a $320 tournament... dunno which one exactly) Great Run, Buddy!

It Was His Day Off...

19 Donkeys ponied up the $11 for the Full Ring Pot Limit Omaha tournament tonight, in Event #3 of the NYRPS. Waffles was the Gigli for the evening, so when that was taken care of, the rest of the poker could commence.

The Final Table saw familiar faces and a few oldie but goodies. The Three luckboxes to sneak into the Money and the Points were ferrisbuellr, twoblackaces and ScottMc.

NOTE: While This was Going On, twoblackaces was busy TAKING DOWN the 21K Guarantee for over $5500!!! WTG TBA!

TBA 'settled' for Second Place tonight, and the Winner was CardPlayer Moderator ferrisbuellr. He takes home $95, the seat in the TOC and the fourth spot on the Overall Standings, which is as follows...

iaatg6296 130.5
Oaklandish 128
bloodslut 110.9
ferrisbuellr 95
PirateLawyer 73.6
twoblackaces 57
DukeMuscle 52.2
mookie99 51.2
ScottMc 38
TheSlinger 34.8
bayne_s 28.8

Next Week is Pot Limit Hold 'em. If Waffles wants any shot at jumping onto this leaderboard, he'll have to draw around 40+ people and win the whole dang tournament. We Shall See.

Tonight's low turnout was probably due to most of the Bloggers leaving Vegas today. BuddyDank and Joanada both landed tonight, but too late to make it to the tournament. They should be all ready to go for tomorrow and Wednesday, and hopefully for Event #4 of the NYRPS next week.

If you want to start pimping it now, Event #6 in the NYRPS is the Dime Omaha Rebuy!!!

NYRPS Event #3

Tonight is the Third Event in the Second ever NYRambler Poker Series.

Last Week was 6-handed PLO.

This Week it's 9-handed.

Not on Purpose, but It sure tilted Waffles when he found out there's no NLH in his prop bet. Laughing Laughing

Password is epicfail as usual.

ZOMG Super Turbo Private Tourneys

Saw this on Sprstoner's NSFW Blog: Set-up on Full Tilt Poker are 3 special Super Turbo MTTs: Two of which are $11 tournaments next Tuesday and the other a $2 rebuy on Thursday. All have 300 starting chips (yes... THREE HUNDRED) and 3 minute levels, just like those addicting SNGs that are run around the clock (and not like the ones run as satellites to a big event that I made a post about last month; those are ONE Hundred chips)

The password for all three tournaments is 'super turbo'. I will most likely be checking these out.

Don't Forget: NYRPS Event #3 is Monday, PLO 9-handed.

And Buddy and Joanada hit it big in Vegas; Read about it in Buddy's Blog.

Ish in Oakland

The Short-Handed Pot Limit Omaha Event at the NYRPS was another successful one, with 32 donkeys showing up to take their shot at the 5 spots that get paid and the points.

After 26 donkeys gave their chips away (including myself to DukeMuscle), we had our Final Table of Six: chitwood, bayne, oaklandish, PirateLawyer, Mookie and NYRPS Event #1 Runner-Up, bloodslut.

Mook and bloodslut have made Both Final Tables so far.

chitwood missed out on the money by bubbling in sixth, and after we lost bloodslut and Mook, we were down to Heads-Up for the Title and Monies between Oaklandish and PirateLawyer.

After a back and forth battle, Oaklandish took PirateLawyer out on the Final Hand to claim his first NYRPS Title, and his seat in the TOC.

Here are the Overall Standings after the First Two Events:

iaatg6296 130.5
Oaklandish 128
bloodslut 110.9
PirateLawyer 73.6
DukeMuscle 52.2
mookie99 51.2
TheSlinger 34.8
bayne_s 28.8

Next Week we have more Pot Limit Omaha; this time of the 9-handed variety. Waffles needs wins to climb to the top of the leaderboard to win his prop bet with InstantTragedy. Will He Do It? (probably not)

NYRPS Event #2

PLOrly?

That is the Name of the Game Tonight, the First of Back-to-Back PLO Games; this one is of the Short-Handed variety. 6 Players at a Table usually means more and faster action, and you can catch all the action at www.buddydankradio.com as usual.

Waffles has thrown down the Gauntlet and plans to be at the top of the Leaderboard after Event #5. We Shall See.

Will iaatg6296 make it Back to Back NYRPS titles?

Tournament # is 67717866, Password is 'epicfail'

The Waffles Factor

Waffles has thrown down the gauntlet. He says he will be atop the leaderboard in all the major Blogger Tournaments by January 1...

It is summed up here: http://tiltwaffles.blogspot.com/

He calls out the Bodog, Mookie, Skillz, and my games, and that all the base will belong to him.

ORLY?

Instant Tragedy has already propbetted on this, with incentives if IT is atop the leaderboard instead of Waffles.

This might bring even more intrigue to my game than I first thought...

It's All About The... NYRPS

Well Event #1 of the NYRPS II was a very successful one. 29 Donkeys ponied up the $11 necessary to play. I went out in 26th when I decided that KK was good preflop... and it wasn't vs. the AA of bloodslut. bloodslut went on to bulldoze the field leading up to the final table, and came to the final table with a large chip lead...

When we got to heads up, it was between the Chip Leader from the Final Table start and the Dank Position from the Final Table start... bloodslut vs. iaatg6296. After an early double up, the two went back and forth until A-Q failed bloodslut twice in a row vs. A-8 and K-T, the second time ending the tournament in the favor of iaatg6296.

Congrats to iaatg6296 for earning his seat at the NYRPS TOC and taking the early lead in the Leaderboard Standings.

Next Week is Pot Limit Omaha Hi - Shorthanded.

See Y'all There!

Thanksgiving

The Day for an excuse to eat like a pig and eat a pig...

Started off pretty good for me.

When I woke up, the TV was turned on to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (Thx Mom and Sis). Soon after that, I saw this float of a bunch of kiddie preschool garbage. I was like WTF is this doing on National TV?

Then all of a sudden...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wL-hNMJvcyI

YES! Rick Astley saved the day and Rickrolled the Thanksgiving Day Parade!

I'll post the actual link when it goes on YouTube tonight.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

New Banner

Here is another Banner/Pimper that was very generously created by EasyCure for the Upcoming NYRambler Poker Series.

Last Night BuddyDank graciously introduced me to the control panel for BuddyDankRadio for me to use on Mondays. NumbBono will most likely be on air as well for the entire series, Buddy and Joanada will try to make it as often as they can... as long as they put down Mario Kart for ~3 hours.

NYRambler Poker Series Poster

NumbBono sent me an E-Mail asking for a NYRPS Poster for the bloggers to pimp with.

After I turned down this suggestion from oaklandish over at Cardplayer...

I came up with this one...

Pimp Away!

NYRPS II Freebies

Here is the giveaways I will have during the NYRPS this time around:

$50 bonus to the winner of the Leaderboard

(I also urge you guys to make prop bets when it comes to the leaderboard... the system will stay the same because the tournaments itself changed to prevent the mistake that happened with the leaderboard last year)

Token Freeroll for the TOC (First gets $75, Second $26).

So I'm forking up $151 this time around.

We should have BuddyDankRadio coverage of all the events.

Event #1 is $11 No Limit Hold 'em, and it is December 1 at 22:00 ET.

LOL Bankroll Management

I'm Sorry to all the Bankroll Management Brainiacs out there...

I love the Super Turbo 100 chippers too much!

Just the last part of the graph is all you really need to look at... from 400 to now. I am a sicko obv, earning all of that only in the Super Turbo Sats to the FTOPS events.

I haven't played a single event yet, though if I am home, I will definitely play the $129 tournament.

Tonight is The Mookie without BuddyDankRadio, and myself and a few other bloggers are also playing the Bad Beat on Kidney Failure Charity Event. I'm currently one of the big stacks closing in on the First Break. Mattazuma and yestbay1 (runner-up to me in the NumbBlowMe) are at my table as well.

Hopefully there will be another brag post tonight.

Double Cash the Daily Doubles Sunday; New Bowling High Series Monday

I hit the Double Cash in the Daily Double tournaments for the second time, for about $38 to go with the $40 I got in DDB and the $15 in DDA. About $75 in profits. Not too shabby.

I shot my new personal best Bowling series on Monday, firing games of 229, 235 and 266 (8 in a row to start) for a total of 730. Also won some nice scratch from the Side Bets at the Alleys tonight.

Ship It.

NYRPS II is up... But Wait...

The 18 Events that are on the NYRPS II Schedule are available for registration on Full Tilt. But, there were some mistakes made, that I e-mailed to try to fix.

1- The Rarer Mixed Games became HA or OE.
2- No NLH Dime Rebuy 2 PLO Dime Rebuys instead
3- the NLH Cubed has Unlimited Rebuy instead of 1.
4- The Main Event is the Same Day as Event #1.
5- NLH Six Handed became HA

I sent an e-mail to fix these mistakes (The only mistake I made was #4). If I can't get the rarer mixed games, I'm going to use Stud Hi, PLO Heads Up and PLO 6 handed.

And the Heads-Up Shootouts will be non-failures, as it was clearly stated in the E-mail that there will be equal stacks even if there are an odd number of players.

Stay Tuned.

Bodonkey and Riverchasers Tonight. Listen to me on Buddy Dank Radio (as usual).

NYRPS II - Tenative Schedule

I'm thinking of making a second try at the NYRPS. The first one was ~popular, and this second one should work fine as well.

First, I'm probably going to move it to Mondays at 10PM. The only reason I had NYRPS I on Tuesdays was because I thought MATH was more popular than Skillz. Well, MATH is no more, and Skillz is still around, so Mondays at 10PM ET (9PM BDT) is what I will aim for.

Of course I want to have Buddy Dank Radio Coverage of the Series, and that's why I have the 10PM Start time over the old 9PM Start time.

Anyway, here is the schedule I have in mind:

December 1: $11 No Limit Hold 'em (Double Stack)
December 8: $11 Mixed Omaha 8 (Double Stack)
December 15: $11 PLO (Double Stack)
December 22: $11 PL Hold 'em (Double Stack)
December 29: $11 Stud Mix
January 5: PLO Dime Rebuy (Turbo)
January 12: $11 Heads-Up NLH (Turbo)
January 19: $11 PL HA (Double Stack)
January 26: $11 HORSE
Febuary 2: $5 NLH One Rebuy, One Add-On
Febuary 9: $11 No Limit Hold 'em 6-handed (Double Stack)
Febuary 16: $11 PL Omaha Mix (Double Stack)
Febuary 23: $11 Limit Hold 'em
March 2: $11 PLO8 (Double Stack)
March 9: $11 Mixed Hold 'em (Double Stack)
March 16: NLH Dime Rebuy (Turbo)
March 23: $26 KO NLH (Double Stack)
March 30: Main Event: $33 NLH (Super Stack!)

Leave comments letting me know what you think. I will be on BuddyDankRadio tonight with the official "NYRPS II" Announcement.

5th in Mookie and NumbBlowMe TONIGHT

5th in the Mookie. I caught a firestorm of hands when we were down to 2 tables. Trying to chase KatieMother out of the tournament took me from monster to average stack. I stayed as the average stack throughout most of the final table, and I really only played 3 hands at the final table: The hand I knocked RaisingCayne out, A-7 >>> KQ and my final hand, where A-4 couldn't hit vs the ducks of Dumptruck.

Tonight is...
Here is what my predictions will be.

As of this writing, there are 48 people in. I think we will end with over 100.

100 x 50 rebuys each (approximate) = 5000 rebuys. that's 5 million chips. I'll set the Total Chip line at 5,000,000.

Here is what I think the Final Table will be.

1. CheckinmyAA- He has been on fire playing cash lately, and with the deep stacks this provides, it will be like a cash game. I like his chances.

2. NumbBono- It's his tournament. Of course he should make the FT.

3. NYRambler- Duh.

4- pvanharibo- Another Duh. She always wins

5. Lucko21- See pvanharibo

6. lilkimmer77- see Lucko21

7. sprstoner - see lilkimmer77

8. ugly chimp - the most underrated MTT player in this group

9. pushmonkey72 - he'll live up to his namesake the first hour, and he'll probably have around 1 million chips because of it. He can fold his way to the Final Table.

FTR, I don't wanna see this final table because I'm the weakest of the 9 players I listed. I'd much rather see guys like DukeMuscle, Mookie, Joanada... Tight players. Not a bunch of LAG-Tards.

I think the favorite to win the event is pvanharibo. But that's just my opinion. Waffles has his own opinions about this on his blog.

Tune in to BuddyDankRadio for live coverage of this event, as it plays out into the night!

$4K Guaranteed Final Table

After picking up a ton of chips early when a Nut Flush held vs. Top Set and Second Nut Flush, I sorta-kinda cruised to the Final Table. On the Bubble, I doubled up from 12BBs with Nut Full House vs. Trips. That was the last time I was All-In until my last hand.

This was what the Final Table looked like. FT Pro Andy Black was the FT Bubble Boy, as you can tell by the chat box.

About 5-10 minutes into the Final Table, I find A-A-5-3 with the nut spades. UTG Chip Leader raised 3x, and I potted him from the BB. He called, we took a flop of T-9-5 rainbow, I pot it and he shoves over. He might have me drawing slim with TT or 99, but I think QJ or KK is a more realistic possibility. I call, and he has KQTT. HGIOEHGIOEHG.

I get bounced in 8th place. It did feel good to run so well in my 4th strongest game (behind NLH, Limit Hold 'em and Limit Omaha 8). The few times that I've played this tournament I seem to run pretty well.

And it also feels good to post about poker again. Also pulling off a Final Table tonight was Loretta8, who took third in the $20 1R/1A over on PokerStars for about $2000. And Lucko21 is back to his winning ways after taking down the $21K Guarantee on Full Tilt last night.

Tomorrow is The Mookie, and there seems to be a slight mistake this time around; It went from a $13 buy-in to an $11 buy-in. Basically it's $8 + $2 for the KO bounty + $1 rake. Hm.

And Thursday is the NumbBlowMe Dime Rebuy Tournament. Shove Every Hand in the first hour!

Atlantic City Trip Report

+$900.

Before I continue, I make a lot of -EV plays on the trip. Don't critique them.

Considering that I won $2200 on one hand, it doesn't look as impressive. Epic Ownage of Let It Ride on the First LIR hand of the day yesterday. Played $10 on each LIR spot, plus the $1 bonus, plus $10 on the Three Card Bonus (same payout as the Pair Plus on TCP). Dealt 9-9-9 for instant $300 return on Three Card Bonus and lookin' at some good scratch for the rest with my trips.

First Card turned up: 9c. SHIPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

$500 for each of the LIR bets = $1500
$400 for the $1 bonus bet = $1900
$300 for the $10 Three Card Bonus = $2200

Wheeeeeeeeeee.

Unfortunately, I dumped a lot of it back, some at the Poker Table, the rest playing Pai Gow, Black Jack and 3CP. Only profitable game other than LIR for me was Texas Hold 'em Bonus.

With my newfound monies, I should be back in ~full schwing online soon. I had to miss my first Mookie in over 4 months last night, and my first BDR broadcast in 2 months.

New blog added to the blogroll: the legendary LilKimmer77, FTOPS VIII's Omaha 8 champ. He'll have some nice brags, since he seems to take down a $75, $109 or $163 tournament every week.

The NumbBlowMe Tournament!

This will be very interesting.

In 2 weeks, Thursday, October 23, 2008, NumbBono, BuddyDank, Joanada and the rest of us at BuddyDankRadio is hosting a very special tournament called the NumbBlowMe. Of Course, Full Tilt censored it, so on Full Tilt it's called the NumbBlow. Sure.

The buy-in is 10 cents + $1 juice. Yep. 1000% Rake.

But there's gotta be a reason for this Madness, right? Of course there is!

It is a Rebuy Tournament, and the Rebuys are 10 cents each.

That's right. TEN CENTS. ONE DIME. TWO NICKELS.

Here it is in perspective.

Let's assume we draw 72 people to this tournament. If all 72 re-buy right away, the prize pool jumps to $14.40. Now there will be winners every hand, so there won't be 72 rebuys per hand, but let's assume that the average Rebuy Per Hand (RPH) is 4 per table (counting double rebuys). 8 tables for a 72 Player Tournament. And there are 60 hands in the Rebuy Period.

60x4 = 240. 240 x 8 = 1920. 1,920 Rebuys. Throw in the Add-ons and round it up for simplicity purposes... 2000 Total Buys + Rebuys + Addons. Thus only a $200 prize pool, but that's not the main point. The Main Point is shoving every hand and what will follow after the rebuy period.

2000 Buys + Rebuys + Add-ons. Let's assume all 72 Players add on. so 2000-72 = 1928. Times that by 1000, and you get 1,928,000. The Add-ons are 1500 chips, so 72 x 1500 = 108,000.

1,928,000 + 108,000 = 2,028,000. That's the total number of chips on the table. Divide by 72 and you get the Average Stack at the first break: 28,170 (rounded). The Blind Level when the rebuy period ends is 60/120. So the AVERAGE stack will have 235 Big Blinds.

Yikes. This might take a while.

But it will be guaranteed fun, that is for sure!

Bowling: Week 3

Friday: 192 - 211 - 219 = 622. In first place out of 6 by a ton. Average: 205

Monday: 205 - 205 - 218 = 628. I'm hoping to maintain this average throughout the year. Average: 203

Poker's been sucking for me lately, last night I played a bunch of SnGs and got cold decked on the bubble at least twice and took home 2 or 3 seconds out of around 15. Not Good.

TV Hand Analysis 2: Justin Phillips vs. Moto Mabuchi, Day 1 of the 2008 Main Event

You've seen this hand. It's the Royal Flush vs. Quads hand. However, they only showed the river action on TV, where Mabuchi bet his quads, Phillips raised and Mabuchi Splash-Shoved.

Here's how the action went down, and my analysis on the action.

From MP, Justin Phillips limps in with Kd-Jd. I guess this is an OK play with such deep stacks, but again, I would prefer a raise. Mabuchi raises from the SB with his A-A. Standard. Phillips calls. Also Standard.

Flop was Ah-Qd-9c , giving Mabuchi the nut set and Phillips a gutterball. Mabuchi checked, which is a play I am on the fence on. If you put him on a small pair (which I would put him on in this situation), then checking is right. But I wouldn't want to give a free card for KJ, JT or J8 to beat me, and frankly, all of those hands are possible, even off suit, because you're in the main event playing against a guy in a wifebeater.

Phillips checks behind looking to hit his gutterball.

Turn is a Td. Phillips makes his nut straight and has 2 of the 'pair the board' outs covered with his OESFD. Mabuchi bets, one street too late as it turns out, and Phillips just calls... If your opponent is on a flush draw or has a set, why not raise him to make him pay for his draw? If he has a set, you're getting it all in anyway, and a K or J kills your action!

River was the Ad, and you know what happened from there: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cdurs0C8mTM

The way this hand was played out, i know it sounds too nitty, but I might just smooth call with the quads there... why risk your main event? If you shove, unless he is a donk, he is not calling with a flush or straight, and might even fold an underfull if he reads the situation right.

But that's just me.

Most Exciting Mookie to Date

Not for me though, I didn't even come close.

But broadcasting on Buddy Dank Radio and watching fellow CP'er worm go deeeeeeeeeeep, it was truly and awesome experience.

Mookie, you need to win one of your own tournaments one of these days :)

And taking home 2 out of the 3 side bets (one pushfest, and the last-shorter in the ferguson) made it all the more special from my side of the felt.

Hopefully the call-ins will be up for the radio show next week. THAT will be an interesting experience to say the least!

Bowling: Week 2 + Cracking the FTP Points System

Bowling

Friday: 161 - 195 - 200 = 556. Average after 2 weeks: 205
Monday: 193 - 241 - 226 = 660. Average after 2 weeks: 201

Cracking the FTP Points System

I Finally figured out how FTP distributes it's Full Tilt Points for Tournaments and Sit n Go's. For every $1 in rake you pay for a tournament, you get 7 Full Tilt Points.

This is good to know if you are shooting for Iron Man Status.

Bowling: Week 1

Friday: Lanes were ~dry, but predictable. I ripped them to shreds. Only one open frame all night (a 4-6 split) and a 675 series is a good way to start the 'fun' league.

245-214-216 = 675
Team Name: WTF? - 9.5 Points (out of 11)

Monday: Different story. Lanes were ~dry, and NOWHERE NEAR predictable. The second game was hopefully my worst game of the year (even though it's only week 1, it was that bad). My other two games were standard because I made my spares. My teammates sucked it up as well.

192-149-205 = 546
Team Name: Big Boyz Club - 2 Points (out of 21)

Friday Average: 225
Monday Average: 182
Combined Average: 203

Poker Returns soon, I promise! Once I make a deep run.

Be sure to listen to me on BuddyDankRadio during the Mookie every Wednesday at 10PM ET

NYRPS TOC

I ponied up $75 of my own monies to fund this tournament.

If you won an event in the NYRPS, you're automatically registered. It's this Sunday at 8PM ET.

Today I have to weather out Tropical Storm Hannah Montana. First meaningful TS in NYC since TS Floyd in 1999 (around this time of year too).

Meh Brag

Being Home from work on Labor Day has its perks. I get to play tournaments I normally would not play. I love playing PL HA on Full Tilt, especially in Tournament Form. I've also been trying to play some smaller MTTs (not just the Huge Guaranteed Tournaments like the Daily Doubles, 32K, 28K, etc.) So this covers both fronts, 3rd Place for ~$158.

I left the tournament to eat dinner with the family early into hour 2, I had 6K in chips in the 80/160 level. I came back, it was the 120/240 Level and I had ~5K in chips. Not too bad. I doubled up quickly when 5-5 hit a straight on a 3-4-6-7-4 board, and an opponent with 99 called my river shove.

I doubled up through him twice more, first in an Omaha hand where he had AAJ3 double suited, I had AQJT, and I hit trip tens. Then, I had 7-7 in the BB, we got it in pre-flop and he had K-J off. OOOOK. I spike a 7 on the flop and cripple him.

From there I just played quiet big stack poker. Final Table disintegrated fast. I knocked someone out in 8th when my 77 held up against KcJx on a Qc-4c-3c board. I then decided to check out some news on Gustav. I look back and it's 3-handed!

My Final Hand, I raise from the SB, BB re-raises, I call. I have Qd-Jd-Jx-3x. Flop is Qx-6d-4d. We get it in, he has KK88. I miss all my outs and am out.

I'll probably be back in the saddle tonight in the usual stuff.

TV Hand Analysis 1: Michael DeMichele vs Eric Crain

Whenever they show a Non-All-In hand on Television (other than HSP and PAD), it means that there was something very intriguing going on.

Here is the first in a series I'm starting called "TV Hand Analysis"

Here is the hand in question, from the 2006 USPC at the Taj Mahal. Between Michael DeMichele and Eric Crain.

DeMichele raises from MP with KQ of hearts. Standard raise. Crain has the button and calls with a Monster Stack and 86 of Spades. Decent call from here, but I prefer a Re-Raise to control the betting. However, in Eric's mind, he is going to raise DeMichele whatever the flop has when DeMichele C-Bets, unless the board brings a monster for Crain or a Royal Board of non-spades... Another reason to Re-Raise, though he didn't know it at the time because he wasn't known yet, was that Joe Pelton was the BB. Pelton won the WPT event and finished 3rd in another immediately before the USPC took place, but those episodes had yet to air... The Blinds Fold. (so much for Pelton)

Flop: 9-2-2 Rainbow. Obviously a great flop to Bluff on.

DeMichele checks; If he bets, Crain will probably bluff-raise no matter what he holds, and force DeMichele off. But if he was thinking this, he should've bet and when Crain raises, Re-Raise. But that's just my ROT. Crain checks for the same reason, I believe.

Turn is a 5 completing the Rainbow. Crain now has a Gutter Ball. DeMichele checks again. Crain Semi-Bluffs for Half of the pot, 5K. DeMichele is probably thinking either Bluff or Mid-Pair for Crain's range. Bluff includes medium/strong aces. DeMichele Check-Raises to 15K. Crain goes into thinking now. Does DeMichele have a big hand, or just AK, AQ, Mid-Pair? And why did he check the flop? To Check-Raise there? Crain decides to 3-bet to 65K, which is a massive overbet. The pot had 30K and he made it 40K more.

This is where DeMichele proves for the first (and definitely not the last) time that he is World Class. He decides to Shove representing AA or 99, which he would definitely at least check the flop with... Checking the turn with AA is problematic even though the board sucks. The Only hands Crain can call with are AA, KK, 55, 99, 22 and MAYBE QQ.

DeMichele was bluffing with the best hand, but I think he was 99% sure he made Crain fold a pocket pair (33-JJ, not 55 or 99) at the time.

BuddyDank Radio + New Blogroll

BuddyDankRadio rocks. I participated the past 2 weeks and absolutely had a blast. I added BuddyDankRadio to the Blogroll. I would love to one day join the ranks of NumbBono, Joanada and emptyman as a regular on their website. Also, Nik and RYZIES had a ton of fun listening and have toyed with the idea of having the CardPlayer Forum Radio Show, with myself, Nik, RYZIES, Lloyd and special guests (see Loretta, bnagy, Eusebio, etc.)

Plus I updated my BlogRoll. Be sure to check out 'WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO', which is perhaps the greatest video of all time, and the 'Best Blog Ever', the most underrated and underappreciated blog of all time!

The Main Event - LIVE BLOG!

I'm going to be running a live blog tonight for the Main Event of the NYRPS, starting at 9PM ET when the tournament starts!

8:34PM: Currently 11 people signed up. C'mon y'all!

9PM: 16 People In as the tournament starts... but Late Registration is still going on for 10 minutes!

9:06: A short-stacked KebertXelaMH runs into the Aces of GetYourWatch. Kebert was crippled by KK < AK vs Batya.

9:11: Tournament Closed at 17. Top 3 get paid, $204 to the winner, $122.40 to the Runner-Up and $81.60 to third. Unless myself or Blyght or a few others cash, the winner will win the POY race. Sick.

9:21: Card Dead. Waiting for The Hammer now.

9:34: Batya is at it again. Gets it in against GetYourWatch on a T-9-8 board. GetYourWatch holds 7-7, while Batya shows QJ for the nuts. No Runner-Runner Full House and GetYourWatch is out in 16th.

9:42: Out in the 4th Level, 15th place. Sucks. JJ ran into the AA of ugly chimp, and I know i should've folded the turn, but for some reason I had him on AK bluff attempt. Of course I was wrong (standard). A Bud Light should drown my sorrows.

9:44: 3-way all-in on a J-6-2 rainbow flop. Batya has J-T and covers, EllePeaKay has K-J and is all in, and RaysingCayne is the middle stack and has A-Q. Board bricks out and EllePeaKay triples up and RaysingCayne is out in 14th.

9:48: Kings are good for Qwik_Draw as he doubles up to 4800.

9:53: Chiefsfan828 finds AK and doubles up through the AQ of ugly chimp.

9:56: Blyght out in 13th: 55 < KQ of GarryWhite All In Pre.

10:01: craftrt2003 out in 12th: J-6 is no good on a Q-9-6-5 board against 10-10 of Qwik_Draw.

First Break: Here are the Top 5 in chips (11 left)

1. GarryWhite - 11,510
2. Batya - 11,305
3. Qwik_Draw - 6,615
4. Bull_G8er - 4,870
5. chiefsfan828 - 3,415

10:15: I missed the KO hands for pvanharibo and TheSlinger, but we're down to our Final 9!

1- Batya
2- garrywhite
3- Qwik_Draw
4- chiefsfan828
5- uglychimp
6- Bull_G8er
7- cemfredmd
8- madbrooklyn
9- EllePeaKay

10:22: EllePeaKay out in 9th. AK can't keep up with Qwik's J-9 sooted after the J hits the flop.

10:24: Qwik_Draw is at it again. A8 goes up against madbrooklyn's KQ and the board brings 9-high. madbrooklyn is out in 8th.

10:25: An 8 on the turn helps chiefsfan828 take out ugly chimp (who called All-In on the river so I can't see his cards). chimp out in 7th.

10:36: Qwik is at it again. A-8 sucks an Ace on the turn against cemfredmd's Q-Q. cemfred out in 6th.

10:48: Batya's turned Broadway with Q-5 is good against Bull_G8er's A-6. Bull out in 5th.

Bubble time.

10:54: Bubble Burst! 2-2 vs A-7 AIPF and a SEVEN on the RIVER for Batya knocks chiefsfan828 out in 4th.

11:01: Batya reveals himself to be from the 2+2 forums. Goooooooooo CP!

11:07: Qwik bites it as his 5-5 is no match for Batya's A-10 when the board has 2 aces AND 2 tens for the uber-house.

HEADS UP!

garrywhite - 27,380
Batya - 23,620

11:12: IT'S OVER! Batya got Garry down to around 8K in chips and was all in pre-flop with J-7 sooted vs Garry's A-Q. Garry hit a Q on the flop but the river brought a King High Straight for Batya and Batya wins the NYRPS Main Event AND the POY Race!

9th in the Fifty-Fifty

I'm Not Complaining. I was the Short Stack for the better part of the Final 20 players after I got trapped by A-A holding 10-10 on a 7-3-2 2 heart board, and A-9 of Hearts came along for the ride. That crippled me to 20K at the 1500/3000 level, but I tripled up with A-Q to around 80K shortly after. From there on it was Short Stack strategy, I sucked out with QJ vs AQ in Battle of Blinds by rivering a flopped OESD. I came into the Final Table as the Short Stack, then got it in with AQ for ~14BBs facing a raise... raiser had AK, GG Me.

$775 is still good tho, right?

NYRambler Poker Series Event #13

Event #13, the first of the $26 Double Stack Events, is HORSE. Everything is still the same: Tuesday, 9PM, Full Tilt, Password = epicfail. Tournament Number 48673367 (since you can search for tournaments by tournament number now...).

After last week's huge payouts, there was a shake-up of the usual Me/Blyght top two, as CheckinMyAA jumped to second in the POY standings. If we have enough people for HORSE and the Main Event, there could be a bigger shake up still.

I still plan on doing something for both the POY and TOC. What it is, I still won't know exactly. Probably just Cash Transfer Prizes.

Oh, and be sure to check out my Mookie Winner's Profile, it's up now at Mook's Blog (See Blogroll)

Mooooooooooooooooooookie TAKEDOWN!

Finally! I take down my first Blogger Tournament, and it's in the King of all Blogger tournaments, The Mookie. I was playing really tight early on because of a 32K deep run (42nd) but once that was done I turned on the engines. I came into the FT as the Chip Leader, and the blinds were quite high, so the Action was fast and furious. I lost a big pot to Mike_Maloney when my set of 7s was turned by a straight from Mike's 9-8. However, I regained my chips by taking KQ against DrewFours and hitting a K to crack his Pocket 7s. Then, A-9 Sooted is good over the A-J of KngofKngs when the flush comes. Heads up, I picked up KK and got it in against Mike on a 5-5-4 board, Mike had 7-6 off... no 3 or 8 in sight and I grabbed the Mookie Title and the $200 first prize!

Check out Mookie's blog in the coming week to read all about it!

Connecticut School of Broadcasting (Non-Poker Post, tl;dr)

www.gocsb.com

That's the website that leads to the Connecticut School of Broadcasting. After flunking out of College (I blame Poker), I needed a new life plan. I decided to enroll in here. But first I had to "audition". The Audition was Tuesday.

After the Head Guy at the Westbury Campus of CSB was done with his lecture, they decided to do the 'auditions' based on the order that the 10 of us that came out for this tour arrived in.

<~~~ #1. ****.

So I go into the Radio Studio they have set up and I do my "Radio Read", which is basically just reading 2 paragraphs and seeing how your voice sounds. I think I did very well, and I found out today that Marty (the head guy) loved it as well. BOOOOOOOOM!

Then came the TV. I had to read off of a Teleprompter. ****. I stumbled a bit, but afterwards Marty told me he wrote the script that way on purpose.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOk.

So today I called back to get the results. Marty said he loved everything about the Radio Read... "The TV was a different story". Rut Roh.

But it wasn't in a bad way, he just mentioned that I sounded different in the TV (nerves obv). He said my distinct Brooklyn Accent came through in the Radio (which has pros and cons, apparently) and in the TV I had the voice they were looking for (See: Iowan). He also said that the Camera likes me...... WAT?! I always thought that my looks made Steve Buschemi look like Matt Damon! Ok then...

So he finally says that I've been accepted.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

I go down there again next Monday and discuss payment plans (ugh) and that school (training) will start on September 15.

New Life, Here I Come!

Next Post will be a Poker Post, I Promise.

Update: NYRPS #11 Results and 3rd in the Mookie

Because of Commitments to things other than Online Poker (Yeah, I'm Shocked Too), I couldn't really promote NYRPS Event #11, which was Limit Hold 'Em. However, thanks goes out to cemfredmd for pimping it in his blog, and to Blyght for making the CP Post. lightning36 wound up taking it down for his first NYRPS win, with mondogarage taking 2nd. I'll post results probably after event #12, because I'm still kinda rushing around.

Last Night I made another Mookie Final Table, my second in 3 weeks. I came in as the Short Stack, but changed that quickly when, as #7 in chips, I take out the Short Stack with JJ. The entire Final Table I was constantly poking at pots, and getting involved. AJ vs Mookie no good, but AJ vs surflexus is goot. (Obviously I was ahead of Mookie and behind surflexus when the money went in). I was one card away from having a big chip lead going Heads Up with Waffles, but drewspop hit his 5-outer on the river. Boooooooo. Not too long after that, I race with Waffles to double up but His AK spikes a bullet on the turn to shoot down my sevens. 3rd is my best Mookie Finish, but I really want to win this tournament one day. Maybe Next Week. :)

As LJ would say, Bridesmaid... Does that make me an Usher?

Not Too Bad, IMO. Combined with 27th in the 28K Guarantee (which LJ Bridesmaided last night) and I had a +1300 day. Tomorrow is Event #10 of the NYRPS:

Be Sure to come get some! It's a Double Stack tournament as well, so it's just like the Mookie, except with likely a smaller audience... But let's see if we can break the NYRPS record of 19!

2 Good Runs

Good Run #1 was in PokerStars' 20K Guaranteed. I was a Big Stack for most of the tournament, and used it ~well. I wound up in 26th Place for ~70 Bucks.

Good Run #2 was in The Mookie (Link to the Right). Was crippled to 190 in the first 20 minutes, but made a sweet comeback (including 77 > QQ vs the host himself) and was able to make the final table 7th in chips, then doubled up through Waffles with KT > A9 on a Q9x board (J on the turn). Tossed a hammer and hit (obv) to double up to the Chip Lead, then sorta floundered from there, then got slapped with the cold deck when TPTK and a turned FD ran into a turned straight. No Flush on the Riv and I took 4th Place for ~$60 + 1 KO ($2)

I want LOTS of promotion for the 3 big events in the NYRPS. The first one is next Tuesday, the $13 KO. The other two are the 2 $26 events: HORSE and NLH.

Another Double Cash

I Hit the Double Cash AGAIN on Friday Nite. Took 28th in B, and barely made the money in A.

Today I'm playing the Sunday Million for the First Time, and it's the largest Sunday Mill ever. GL 2 me!

Also playing the 750K on FT, along with the usual tournaments.

Almost a Final Table...

But Almost doesn't count except in Horseshoes and Hand Grenades. 12th place is still a good score, but the way I was playing (and running), I felt I should've taken it down. My final hand, I was ~7th in Chips with ~18BBs, and I made my standard raise from the Button with A-J sooted. 3rd in Chips was in the SB, and he Shoved with 5-5. I called, and If i win this race, I take the Chip Lead with 12 to go.

Flop: 3-2-7 Rainbow. D'oh. I need an Ace, Jack or Running Straight...

Turn: A of Diamonds. WOOOOOOOOT Ship It.....

River: 4.... BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I'll Get 'em Next Time.

NYRPS Event #7 Results

It was Champ in '07! Er, Event 7 that is. pureprophet AKA ChampSampson from the CP Forums takes down the PL Hold 'Em Event in the NYRPS. I cashed (surprise!) in second place, and Didace, blogger playing his first NYRPS, avoided the carnage and snuck into the 3rd place spot, suffering a sick beat to go out in 3rd (KK < K8 vs Champ).

Updated Standings (Since TheSlinger cares SO much...) :-D

Next Week is Heads-Up Shootouts. Let's try for an even 16! However, I don't know if we'll have the Free Byes that FTP was able to ~fix lately. We might have the Loretta Heads-Up problem. So if we get exactly 8 or 16 (or 32!), there won't be a problem.

We'll probably have 4 payouts if we get 9 or more players this time around!

<~~~~~~ Goin' Deep in the 32K. Hopefully there will be a post about it later tonight!

NYRPS Event #7: Pot Limit Hold 'Em

The 7th Installment is Tomorrow Nite! Pot Limit Hold 'Em, Password = epicfail, 9PM ET, etc.

Can (and will) jl131 Defend his title? Will Loretta join in from Vegas? Will my Point Lead Hold Up? SANDRARENE IS IN!?!?!?!

This looks to be really good!

Remember Bloggers: The NYRPS Main Event is 7 weeks away: With a $26 buy-in, Double Stacks and most likely ~50-100 Entrants (If y'all advertise!), The Point Standings will have a massive shake-up!

Daily Double: Double Cash

For the second time ever, I double-cashed the Daily Doubles. I don't know exactly how much I'll be getting, but I don't think there were too many double cashers today (the turnout was low to begin with thanks to Independence Day). Also, I don't know if I had done enough to get Best Double Finish, which is about $600 no matter when you hit it.

Daily Double A- 107th, $16.99
Daily Double B- 37th, $28
Double Cash- $51.51
Spent: ($24)
Profits: $72.50

<~~~~~~~ Will Take It.

Back in the Schwing of Things

I had not been running well.

But last night I played 6 tournaments ($5 KO, $10 KO, $3 Turbo, 32K and Daily Doubles). I cashed 3 out of 6 ($10KO, 32K and DDB). Because I tokened into the 32K, My profits were ~$75. This Morning, I played a $10 45-man SNG to pass the time while I rake in FTPs at 1/2 HORSE. Finished 3rd for $72, then cashed out a $30 profit at the HORSE.

Had a small BBQ with Family for Fourth of July, rain spoiled it a little. Missed the 32K by 8 minutes (Got home at 8:08) Playing the DD's and a $10 KO Turbo SNG (the 90 man ones).

Hopefully a brag post tomorrow.

Whether or Not I play the MSOP Main Event is based on the Weather. If it's Nice Out, I'm going to a BBQ with more Family. If it's nasty out, I'm staying home and playing the MSOP Main Event.

5th in the Mookie

I Finally made a Mookie Final Table. For Me, The Mookie is the Big One when it comes to Blogger Tournaments, and it was the only one I had yet to FT. I had a sizable Chip Lead once the Final Table came together, and when the Final Table came through, I busted Fuel in 9th place with KK.

The Top 6 got paid, and I tried going Aggro in 7-handed play. Epic Fail, I almost busted myself. I Took the Chip Lead back during 6-handed play, but donked it all back, most of it to NumbBono, the eventual winner.

I haven't been running too well in MTTs, whenever I get a big stack, I either bleed it all away, or donk it all to a Bigger Stack with a Weak Ace. I need to re-evaluate my Late MTT Strategy. I gotta watch Lucko more often. (BTW, Lucko won the $50 1 Rebuy 1 AddOn AGAIN last night).

Hopefully This Weekend I'll hit a Big Score.

MSOP Event #35

Took Home 9th Place, which sucks because of it's Very Flat Payout structure that gets huge at the Final Table of 8.

It was 7 Stud this time, a game I don't have a lot of experience in, but I knew the basics. Got a big stack early when I had quads by 4th street and KO'd 2 shorties. I sucked out while All-In THREE times (!), and finally on the last hand I made a stand with A-Q-3 against villain's 7 upcard... He had rolled 7s (obv). Even Aces Up couldn't overcome that, and I was the Final Table Bubble Boy.

My second deep run in the MSOP, and my best finish so far, I'm still searching for that Final Table. Maybe Next Time.
