Bowling: Week 3

Friday: 192 - 211 - 219 = 622. In first place out of 6 by a ton. Average: 205

Monday: 205 - 205 - 218 = 628. I'm hoping to maintain this average throughout the year. Average: 203

Poker's been sucking for me lately, last night I played a bunch of SnGs and got cold decked on the bubble at least twice and took home 2 or 3 seconds out of around 15. Not Good.

TV Hand Analysis 2: Justin Phillips vs. Moto Mabuchi, Day 1 of the 2008 Main Event

You've seen this hand. It's the Royal Flush vs. Quads hand. However, they only showed the river action on TV, where Mabuchi bet his quads, Phillips raised and Mabuchi Splash-Shoved.

Here's how the action went down, and my analysis on the action.

From MP, Justin Phillips limps in with Kd-Jd. I guess this is an OK play with such deep stacks, but again, I would prefer a raise. Mabuchi raises from the SB with his A-A. Standard. Phillips calls. Also Standard.

Flop was Ah-Qd-9c , giving Mabuchi the nut set and Phillips a gutterball. Mabuchi checked, which is a play I am on the fence on. If you put him on a small pair (which I would put him on in this situation), then checking is right. But I wouldn't want to give a free card for KJ, JT or J8 to beat me, and frankly, all of those hands are possible, even off suit, because you're in the main event playing against a guy in a wifebeater.

Phillips checks behind looking to hit his gutterball.

Turn is a Td. Phillips makes his nut straight and has 2 of the 'pair the board' outs covered with his OESFD. Mabuchi bets, one street too late as it turns out, and Phillips just calls... If your opponent is on a flush draw or has a set, why not raise him to make him pay for his draw? If he has a set, you're getting it all in anyway, and a K or J kills your action!

River was the Ad, and you know what happened from there: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cdurs0C8mTM

The way this hand was played out, i know it sounds too nitty, but I might just smooth call with the quads there... why risk your main event? If you shove, unless he is a donk, he is not calling with a flush or straight, and might even fold an underfull if he reads the situation right.

But that's just me.

Most Exciting Mookie to Date

Not for me though, I didn't even come close.

But broadcasting on Buddy Dank Radio and watching fellow CP'er worm go deeeeeeeeeeep, it was truly and awesome experience.

Mookie, you need to win one of your own tournaments one of these days :)

And taking home 2 out of the 3 side bets (one pushfest, and the last-shorter in the ferguson) made it all the more special from my side of the felt.

Hopefully the call-ins will be up for the radio show next week. THAT will be an interesting experience to say the least!

Bowling: Week 2 + Cracking the FTP Points System

Bowling

Friday: 161 - 195 - 200 = 556. Average after 2 weeks: 205
Monday: 193 - 241 - 226 = 660. Average after 2 weeks: 201

Cracking the FTP Points System

I Finally figured out how FTP distributes it's Full Tilt Points for Tournaments and Sit n Go's. For every $1 in rake you pay for a tournament, you get 7 Full Tilt Points.

This is good to know if you are shooting for Iron Man Status.

Bowling: Week 1

Friday: Lanes were ~dry, but predictable. I ripped them to shreds. Only one open frame all night (a 4-6 split) and a 675 series is a good way to start the 'fun' league.

245-214-216 = 675
Team Name: WTF? - 9.5 Points (out of 11)

Monday: Different story. Lanes were ~dry, and NOWHERE NEAR predictable. The second game was hopefully my worst game of the year (even though it's only week 1, it was that bad). My other two games were standard because I made my spares. My teammates sucked it up as well.

192-149-205 = 546
Team Name: Big Boyz Club - 2 Points (out of 21)

Friday Average: 225
Monday Average: 182
Combined Average: 203

Poker Returns soon, I promise! Once I make a deep run.

Be sure to listen to me on BuddyDankRadio during the Mookie every Wednesday at 10PM ET

NYRPS TOC

I ponied up $75 of my own monies to fund this tournament.

If you won an event in the NYRPS, you're automatically registered. It's this Sunday at 8PM ET.

Today I have to weather out Tropical Storm Hannah Montana. First meaningful TS in NYC since TS Floyd in 1999 (around this time of year too).

Meh Brag

Being Home from work on Labor Day has its perks. I get to play tournaments I normally would not play. I love playing PL HA on Full Tilt, especially in Tournament Form. I've also been trying to play some smaller MTTs (not just the Huge Guaranteed Tournaments like the Daily Doubles, 32K, 28K, etc.) So this covers both fronts, 3rd Place for ~$158.

I left the tournament to eat dinner with the family early into hour 2, I had 6K in chips in the 80/160 level. I came back, it was the 120/240 Level and I had ~5K in chips. Not too bad. I doubled up quickly when 5-5 hit a straight on a 3-4-6-7-4 board, and an opponent with 99 called my river shove.

I doubled up through him twice more, first in an Omaha hand where he had AAJ3 double suited, I had AQJT, and I hit trip tens. Then, I had 7-7 in the BB, we got it in pre-flop and he had K-J off. OOOOK. I spike a 7 on the flop and cripple him.

From there I just played quiet big stack poker. Final Table disintegrated fast. I knocked someone out in 8th when my 77 held up against KcJx on a Qc-4c-3c board. I then decided to check out some news on Gustav. I look back and it's 3-handed!

My Final Hand, I raise from the SB, BB re-raises, I call. I have Qd-Jd-Jx-3x. Flop is Qx-6d-4d. We get it in, he has KK88. I miss all my outs and am out.

I'll probably be back in the saddle tonight in the usual stuff.
