The MiniFTOPS

The MiniFTOPS is in full swing right now, and I've played one tournament, Event #1. I cashed in it, finishing in 1606th (yep, that's a cash lol) for a $10 profit (lol)

A fellow blogger bubbled the final table of the $10 rebuy for a sweet score, but he's always running good in huge MTTs.

The next tournaments I'll play are the HORSE and Turbo NLH on Tuesday; If anyone wants to back me in the HORSE Event (I'll sell up to $15 of my action, which is 30%), let me know.

So I Made a Final Table...

I woke up early Sunday Morning (fail) and decided to see what kind of tournaments were running over at FTP. I had a $26 token in my account, so I used it to buy in to the $15K Guarantee tournament that started at 10AM.

5 hours later, $379 score for 9th place.

I ran a crappy bluff when we were down to 15 or so... I tried a blind steal with Q4o, was called by the BB (LPP). Flop was K hi with 2 diamonds. He checked, I c-bet and he snap called... it was here that I put him on a FD. Turn was a blank, he checked, I fired again repping the K, he snapped again. River was a blank that completed a backdoor straight, he checked again... I shoved and covered, and he tanked then called with KJ. oops.

I nursed a short stack from that point on, made the Final Table with about 6BBs, and was the SB, found 74s, shoved into AT, flop was AT7... turn gave me a flush draw, but I missed on the river.

Since then, I am now at a point where I can practice good bankroll management and play the blogger tournaments adhering to those rules (first time in a long time lol)

I want to play 1/2 limit O8 or Stud 8, but there's never anyone playing... So i stick to $25NL, and tend to be the most aggro player whenever I play, and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I dropped a little less than 2 buy-ins last night, mostly by getting it in with draws and missing... however, I hope that variance can kick in and allow me to do better.

I'll probably be posting more poker content on here in the future, as I found more motiviation to do well.

Back in the Swing of Things: 3rd in the Skillz

I made my return to Bloggaments last night in the Skillz series... taking down 3rd place after being in the Dank Position for most of the first hour. Some key hands vs. Numb and Chad got me a big stack, and I was hovering around the 8K mark for the remainder of the tournament, until a JJ < KK vs Numb sent me down, and pushmonkey's stubbornness for my bruffs cost me the rest of my stack. However, it felt good to be back in the game, and I will be playing The Mookie tonight.

Also, I am interested in starting up a regular game on Mondays again; I'm going to call it 'Monday Night HORSE', and it will start Monday, January 4, 2010, at 10pm. If anyone out there is good at making banners, if you can make one for this, it will be much appreciated. The Password will probably be 'mnhorse', and the buy-in will be $10+$1, save for an end-of-quarter tournament on the last monday of every 3 months, which will be a $24+$2 tournament.

Hurricane LJ?

As an Unofficial Hurricane Maniac/Historian, I felt the need to bring this up:

Hurricane LJ?

I can safely report that there has never been a 'Hurricane Waffles' anywhere in the world, thankfully.

The WSOP November Nine, 2009

Well this year's November Nine are set. Last year you had 1 known player going in... this time you have 3.

Of course, one of those known players is none other than Phil Ivey, who needs to finish 3rd or better to become the #1 tournament earner of all time, passing Jaime Gold.

You have Jeff Shulman, the CEO of CardPlayer Magazine, who has decided to stir up some controversy with some statements he has made the past few days... Linky

The third player that's known is James Akenhead. Now, I had heard of that name before but couldn't remember exactly from where. I looked him up and saw that he finished second in a $1500 No Limit Event in the 2008 WSOP; this was the final hand: Linky

The other 6 players I have never heard of until this WSOP.

Seat 1 is The Chip Leader, Darvin Moon, who has zero earnings up to this point.

Seat 2 is Akenhead.

Seat 3 is Ivey.

In Seat 4 you have Kevin Schaffel, a 51-year-old who is making this his 3rd Main Event Cash, including a 42nd place finish in 2004 (Raymer Year)

In Seat 5 we have Steven Begleiter, also with 0 career prior cashes and is from Chappequa, NY (home of Bill and Hillary Clinton)

Eric Buchman is in Seat 6, and has had nearly $1 million in earnings, mostly coming from 2 runner-up finishes; one in a $1500 Limit WSOP event in 2006, and another in the $10,000 WSOP Circuit event in Atlantic City. He is ALSO from the great state of New York, and a little closer to me too, in Valley Stream (right on the New York City border)

Seat 7 is Joseph Cada, from Michigan, making his 3rd WSOP Cash; the first two were also from this year, both in $1500 No Limit Hold 'em Events

Sitting in Seat 8 Antoine Saout is a frenchman with 0 earnings coming in.

And Seat 9 is Jeff Schulman.

Here is a List of the players and their chip counts:

Seat 1: Darvin Moon — 58,930,000
Seat 2: James Akenhead — 6,800,000
Seat 3: Phil Ivey — 9,765,000
Seat 4: Kevin Schaffel — 12,390,000
Seat 5: Steven Begleiter — 29,885,000
Seat 6: Eric Buchman — 34,800,000
Seat 7: Joseph Cada — 13,215,000
Seat 8: Antoine Saout — 9,500,000
Seat 9: Jeff Shulman — 19,580,000

And now, basing my logic on these stats and prior results, the November Nine, in my opinion, will fall like this:

9. Antoine Saout
8. James Akenhead
7. Joseph Cada
6. Kevin Schaffel
5. Jeff Shulman
4. Steven Begleiter
3. Phil Ivey
2. Darwin Moon
1. Eric Buchman

I'll be rooting hard for Buchman (LI boy) and Ivey (If a known player wins it all, it will be huge for poker)

Some Poker Talk (What? Really?)

Yeah, recently I've been playing a certain 4 tournaments every night that I'm home over on Stars... $11 HORSE ($1000 Guaranteed, 6:45pm), $11 NLH ($20,000 Guaranteed, 7pm), the ever-so-popular $3 Rebuy ($40,000 Guaranteed, 8pm) and the $5 2R1A ($4000 Guaranteed, 8:15pm)

I usually cash in one of these tournaments per night, most of the time it's one of the 1 big ones... Last night it was the $3 Rebuy, and I wound up taking 117th place out of 4786 (!) for $78.67. I think I was in for $21 in this tournament, so in for $21+$20+$11+$11 = 63... woot a $15 Profit! SHIPZ!

The next time I play will either be tonight or Tuesday.

And I have drawn up the NYRPS Schedule... I will probably post it later this month; it will be running from September 14 through December 14. And NYRambler's Monday Night HORSE will start in 2010.

The Future of the NYRPS

I want to run a NYRPS III starting in October... I want feedback from my fellow bloggers and regular players in my series for feedback.

Also, I want to start up a weekly Monday tournament starting in 2010 called Monday Night HORSE... feedback appreciated on that too.

Goooooooooooo LJ!

Lana 'LJ' 'pvanharibo' Meier is currently among the Final 18 of the $1500 HORSE event at the WSOP, and just took the title of 'best looking person remaining' with the bustout of Vanessa Rousso in 19th. Just like Stoner, we're hoping for a Final Table, and hopefully a win!

Also, congrats to Carol 'CK' Kline for doing well in the $2500 Omaha 8/Stud 8 tournament (the one won by Phil Ivey) and to Andrew 'ShiftyEye7' Perry (from the Forums) for takin 120th in the huge $1500 NLH event (won by Pete The Greek).

I was there for the end of the first and most of the Second Day cheering Andrew on. I'll be posting pics and my Trip Report once I'm done posting it at the forums

Congrats Shawn 'sprstoner' Glines

Fellow Blogger Shawn 'sprstoner' Glines took 3rd in Event #13 at the WSOP for a cool $202k! Let's hope this isn't the end of his World Series run.

Aside: RYZIES actually took Glines in our WSOP Fantasy Draft. Luckbox. I think I'm still second or third in that because of Raymer's 3rd place in the 40K... my only other cash came from Robert Mizrachi in PLO. Still no signs of Adam 'csimmsux' Geyer, Michael Mizrachi bubbled twice already, and Jordan Morgan and Ivan Demidov are playing almost every event, but aren't running too well.

Stoner Update

I got some sleep, but woke up early anyway...

Unofficially, according to Pokernews, Stoner has 420K in chips, putting him in 8th place...

Stoner on his blog says he's at 453K, which according to the pokernews chip counts, is still 8th place, but again, pokernews won't update the chip counts until later this morning.

Final 20 coverage starts at 1pm PT (4PM my time)...

Too bad I'm not out there yet to cheer him on, but I know LJ will.

Again, I am leaving for Vegas on WEDNESDAY! HOLY CRAP IT'S RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER!!!!!!

-Kenny

Goooooooooooo Stoner!

It's 2:18AM here on the East Coast, but I'm still awake...

Fellow Poker Blogger (and the only person other than me to win the NumbBlowMe Open) Sprstoner is currently the Chip Leader at the WSOP Event #13, $2500 NL Hold 'em. I'm following his progress Here. I'm also following LJ's Cardrunners page.

I'm Back (sorta)

While I'm still self-excluded from Full Tilt, I did re-deposit $25 on stars...

And I've been playing pretty good. Ran my $25 up to a little less than $57, plus I'm still in a $8.80 tournament that just made the money... and I have a sweet Stars Sharkscope for scheduled tournaments only (105% ROI FTW?)

So I'm back... kinda.

Leaving for Las Vegas on June 10th. Will not be playing any events, but I do wanna meet up with people who might be out there... lemme know what's up.

11th in Riverchasers

Lately in the BBT, I have been going deep, but not deep enough... this is for the last 4 tournaments.

Last Monday's Riverchasers, I lasted almost 2 hours before I ran KK into AA just shy of the points and money.

Last Tuesday's Skillz (Razz), I lost a key all-in and got crippled, then KO'd on the points bubble.

Last Wednesday's Mookie, I was the first person ITP.

And one key trend was consistent throughout all 3 of those tournaments: super-tight play by me. Usually I get too aggro early on and that ends in my flame-outs. I did make one bad play in the Mookie on Wednesday (shoving A-hi on the river vs. a bet from a nit) but what's a tournament without a bad play by me?

That takes us to Riverchasers last night. I played the first four hands I was dealt, and bled a nice chunk of chips away early. Then I ran two pair into a rivered straight to bring me to 2000. I could've been KO'd on this hand, but my opponent folded... and yes, the Royal Mook scares all:

I flopped bottom set vs. Jordan a little later, but he didn't call my turn shove... that brought me back to a starting stack.

Took two pots with JJ and a nice bruff with A9 sooted; that took me to this hand, which finally gave me something to work with:

Never doubt the power of CRUBS!

Looking back, I never showed down another hand until my last hand of the tournament; talk about squeaky tight play. In the Money with 11 left, I had A2o in the BB. Tony Eusebio (a player so LAG he makes LJ seem Tight-Passive) raised from the button, which was common. I shoved with my A-2 since I was miles ahead of his range. He called me with A-5, so it was a likely chop...

Until both a 2 AND a 5 came down on the flop... ugh. No third deuce for me, and I'm out in 11th. Good to finally be back ITM in the BBT, and up to 22nd in the Overall Leaderboard. I'm looking to get those 25K FTP points for being in the Top 20. I can play a lot of 1800 FTP token satellites with those!

Tonight is Skillz: Stud Hi-Lo. This was the skillz game back when the BBT started as well, and I was in the points in that tournament, let's hope for something better tonight.

And congrats to Tony Eusebio for winning the Riverchasers last night, not making a deal HU vs a TOC seat winner (lucko) and winning it the right way.

Challenges to my Title - Part 1

A New Segment from The Biggest Donkey in the Universe: Challenges to my Title.

Here is Part 1.

Atlantic City Trip Report

Saturday Day: 2/4 Limit @ Showboat, +$60
Saturday Night: 1/2 No Limit @ Showboat, +$75
Sunday Afternoon: $40+$10 Turbo Donkament @ Bally's, -$50
Sunday Afternoon: 4/8 Limit Mini-Blinds* @ Harrah's, +$90

*Before I elaborate, the 4/8 Limit Mini-Blinds is just like a 4/8 game, except that the blinds are $1/$2... the Pre-flop raises are still $4 each... so a raise is to $6, a 3-bet to $10, etc. This was my favorite game I've ever played live.

The 2/4 limit game was your usual donk-fest... There was a long wait list for 1/2 NL. So I sat down with a rack of White Chips and donked it up in 2/4. I left with a Stack and a half of Red and a few whites, so I estimated $60 profit. I don't really remember the hands exactly, but TP was usually good.

After dinner I went back and played some 1/2 NL, and bought in for $200. I lost a big pot early on when I ran top pair into 2 pair, but took a lot of pots without a showdown, including one gutsy semi-bluff with just a diamond draw. I only made 3 donk plays the entire trip at the tables, and two were at this table.

I raised to $7 from MP with Q-T of crubs and got called by the Button and the Blinds. Flop is K-9-2 rainbow. Checks to me, I bet $11, and get called by just the button. Turn is a 10. I check and the button bets $25, leaving her with $6 behind. I thought about it for a few seconds, then said 'I'll raise the rest of your chips'. She called...

Turn: J

I say 'sorry' and flip up my Q-T, she sighs, shows A-A (nice pre-flop raise... oh wait) and leaves. This pot took me to about $450. Only one other guy covered, and he tightened up when he saw my willingness to gamble.

That guy and his $550 stack left an hour later, when I had about $600 in front of me. During this time, another lady bought in for $300 and was playing VERY aggressively. She built up to about $400 in 20 minutes with lots of aggressive plays, never showing a hand down.

Donk Play #2 was the costliest play I've ever made. I raised to $7 from EP with A-T. LP, Villain in SB called and BB called.

Flop: T-8-7 rainbow.

Checks to me and I bet $20. Villain raises to $65. Folds to me... and I didn't really think about it, I just thought she was putting me on air... I immediately said All-In and she pushed her chips (about $320 more) in like Chris Ferguson would... I knew I was destroyed.

Turn: J
River: 2

She turns over 8-8 and takes down a pot worth close to $800.

From there I was back to even for the session... but I won a pretty decent pot with K-3 sooted (top pair delivers), got my stack to $275, then called it a night.

Sunday

My dad called while I was playing table games... which from now on will probably just stick to Pai Gow and Blackjack after I got owned at all Let It Ride and Craps games... and only had 1 good hand in Three Card Poker (3 8s for $360).

I registered, then I looked down and noticed it was a Speed Tournament... LOL This sounds fun. 12-minute levels, 10K Starting Chips and 25/50 levels, so I was thinking it shouldn't be too bad.

I played very tight early on, played only 3 hands the first hour:

Hand 1: Get T-T, raise 3x, flop an overpair, C-Bet and Take it Down.

Hand 2: Immediately after Hand 1, get KQo in MP, Limp Along with 3 EP limpers, 7 handed to the flop of A-8-2. Hand Over.

Hand 3: With about 9500 in chips, get JJ in MP. UTG (Yamaka-Jew who bluffed twice, including one sick hammer throw) raises 3.5x. I smooth-call (which I always do with mid-pairs in this spot), and BB calls too. 3 handed to the flop.

Flop: K-J-T Rainbow.

BB checks and UTG snap-shoves for 10K. I make a small mistake and Snap-Call. Snap was the small mistake, because BB took forever then folded KQo face up! UTG showed 9-9. Faded the 3 outer and doubled up to a shade over 20K. Took that to break.

Hour 2: Mistake #3. The blinds are now huge. I think 400/800, and I have a 20K stack. UTG shoves for 6K. LP calls for less. I have A-3 of hearts in the BB. I decide I need to gamboool to get some chips, and I called. EP: 5-5. LP: K-T.

Flop: J-7-5. Oops. That left me with 15K.

Before I knew it, I had 13K, and it was 6.5 big blinds. I got moved to a new table and did a lot of folding. Finally, A guy who just lost an all-in shoved for 11K from UTG+1. I'm next to act and I look down at AQo. I called, everyone else folded. UTG+1 shows Q-6 of Diamonds. Hooooooooooooooold...

Flop: 9d-8x-5x... you know where this story's going...
Turn: 8d
River: 5d - houiahgoidhogiahbo

I had less than a big blind... Next hand was J-3 so i folded... UTG i had A-9o, so i threw my last 1600 in. A MP player shoves to isolate, and shows the JackAce. No 9 for me and I'm bounced.

4/8 Mini-Blind at Harrah's... this was fun and not as swongy as I thought. The play was MUCH better here than at 4/8, and the rake was the same. I played much tighter, but I made some funky plays here and there.

My favorite hand of the entire trip was this one. I'm on the button with 9-4 of crubs. 4 limpers, so I limp (<3 Button), blinds call. Flop is Jc-Js-6s. Folds to me, I bet to try to take the pot, just the BB calls...

Turn: 8c. He checks, I bet and he snap-calls. He either has a 6 or a spade draw...

River: Qc (obv: CRUBS ALWAYS GET THERE!)

BTW, this was the only flush i remember hitting all trip. He check-calls, I show him my flush and tell the table "The Key to Winning Poker is Simple: Run Good." He mucks his 6-3o.

I was swongy, and at one point was down a nice chunk, then I won a pot with a middle pair and said "Hm I wonder If i can get a rush going"...

Next Hand: T-T, flop an overpair, take it on the turn.
Next Hand: J-J, flop an overpair, get value all the way.

Yep, got a small rush. I wound up winning here too. I thouroughly enjoyed this game, and I played from 5pm until 11pm.

I think I'm ready for Vegas... Maybe we'll get that 5/10 AWESOME game going ;)

Played the Riverchasers last night, and ran into an old nemesis, Bessin. Bessin cost me a FT at HORSE during Skillz a few weeks ago with some weird (see: bad) play, but I got trapped good here: QQ EP, I raise, Bessin and Buddy call, flop is K-8-4, I bet, Bessin Calls, Buddy Folds. Turn: 10. I check, and Bessin insta-bets 500. I usually read this as bruff, so I shove, and Bessin snaps with A-K. Oops.

Tonight is HOSE in the Skillz Game, And I plan on bringing my D- game as usual.

My Nickname of 'Biggest Donkey in the Universe' is gonna catch on. Just Watch.

Vegas Plans + Other Stuff

I have been planning a Vegas Trip ever since Nik Santi called me out in January to go out there. Well, I will be going out there in the middle of June during the WSOP. June 10th through the 14th (5 days, 4 nights). I might play the $1500 NL Event on the 11th (I am willing to sell pieces of myself, and I know at least one person has offered to buy some). I will be meeting up with my fellow OT Degens out there, and iaatg6926 is going out there with me... I know CK and cem are going to be out there as well...

So this is looking like an unofficial blogger gathering. So if you ever wanted to know a time to get to Vegas, well just start reading blogs; the plans are becoming more and more clear.

Congrats to Oaklandish for beating me heads up in the NYRPS TOC. I was too tired and shoved with a double gut shot and ran into Top Top.

I will be heading out to Atlantic City this weekend... hit me up if you plan on being there as well... Staying at Harrah's, will spend time at Showboat, Bally's and will probably be making my first trip to Borgata.

Skillz and Mookie tonight... I'm cutting down on my poker playing for now, sticking just to BBT events... Big things happening on my front IRL that has to do with my father in the coming month... but that's for another blogpost.

In Before tl;dr.

Bracketology 101 by NYRambler

Here are some things I always look to do in the NCAA Bracket Challenge:

1- 2 8s win round 1, 2 9s win round 1.
2- Always pick at least 1 12 seed to beat a 5.
3- Always pick at least 1 3 seed to go to the Final 4.
4- Big East >>> Everyone Else (for the most part)

That being said, here's how I have my brackets going.

Midwest: My 12 over 5 match takes place here: Arizona over Utah. Arizona was the last team in, but they are still a pretty good team in a tough Pac-10. Utah's a Mid-Major and Mid-Majors were weak this year. Later on, I have 6 seeded West Virginia beating Kansas, and in my first of 2 #1 seeds falling in the Sweet 16, Wake Forest over Louisville. Wake was consistent all year, and don't shoot 3s. So they didn't get a 24-6 record in the second toughest conference by accident. Louisville did win the Big East, but they were never dominant and didn't beat Pitt in the Big East Tournament. In the end, I have Michigan State (Tom Izzo always delivers) coming out of the Midwest

East: All Pitt, All the Time. Villanova will have no problems playing in Philly the first two weeks, then they meet up with an improved but still young Duke team in the Sweet 16. I think 'Nova's experience will prevail. VCU over UCLA is my upset in the first round; I picked VCU 2 years ago over Duke and it worked. I'm not as high on Florida St. as some others are... I have Xavier beating them. Pitt comes out though.

South: Here's where I made some moves to win my bracket pools. I have UNC LOSING to Gonzaga. It's a risk, but I think the Zags are REALLY good. Syracuse showed a lot of heart in the Big East tournament, and I have them coming out of the South, fulfilling #3 of my list.

West: Almost everyone has UConn vs Memphis in the Regional Finals here... and I do too. I think Memphis deserved the #1 seed, and they will show up in their match vs UConn with much more incentive. In the first round, I took my largest upset in the tournament: taking the Super-Hot SEC Champs Mississippi State over the Pac-10s Washington.

Final Four: #2 Michigan State, #1 Pittsburgh, #3 Syracuse and #2 Memphis

Finals: Pittsburgh over Memphis 70-63.

Good Luck.

Bloodslut wins Dime Rebuy + 8th in Riverchasers

12 donkeys put up 10 cents (plus the 1000% rake) to enter NYRPS Event #16: NLH Dime Rebuy

After 496 Rebuys and 9 Add-Ons (3 people gave up before the rebuy period ended) We had a prize pool of $51.70, making this the smallest tournament in the NYRPS.

After the rebuy period ended, we had a little deepstack play for those with the stacks. We quickly got down to the final 3: jimdniacc, NumbBono and Bloodslut. Bloodslut took NumbBono out Heads Up and took down his first NYRPS title.

I knew lucko had something, but he could very well have A-4 or 5-5 in that spot as well... But it was most likely a coinflip, and it was a key flip for me to win. Lucko busted the next hand to burst the bubble.

Once we got to the Final Table, I just wanted to win. Even if that means Flipping for 75% of my stack, which is what I did in this hand:

So I lost that one, a few hands later I found 8-5 sooted and 125will called me down, holding QJ of the same suits. I flopped a straight draw and a flush draw I didn't want to hit, but I missed everything and busted in 8th.

Tonight is the HORSE Skillz Series... I won the last time Skillz was HORSE, but it's BBT season now and we'll have a much larger crowd. Maybe I'll get my revenge on 125will tonight. See ya at the Tables!

7th in Brit + NLH Dime Rebuy Tomorrow @ SPECIAL TIME

I took 7th in the Brit Blogger Game earlier today. The 4pm Start time sucks, and I left for 20 minutes to go eat dinner, but I still was able to keep a decent stack.

I won a huge hand vs. 2 shorties when my AK beat out AQ and AJ to give me a big chip lead, but it was hard to play with smokkee to my left, as he tormented me, and always seemed to make his move when I was making a move. This was for most of the Money Bubble, and I found myself just below average when the Money Bubble Burst, and in 7th place when the FT started.

I was able to build up a pretty good stack when the aggressive Brit Blogger LexLuther999 raised, and I had AQ, I decided to make an overbet shove. He called with JJ and I lost the raise, so there goes.

Tomorrow is the PPI/Riverchasers... Same ol' Token NLH.

But for the NYRPS, we are having our NLH Dime Rebuy tournament. There is a special time for this tournament; 9pm ET. I moved the time so the pushmonkeys that we are don't accidentally push in the Riverchasers.

Once the rebuy period is over, the real poker starts for the NYRPS, and the Riverchasers starts as well.

Mookie Recap

err... not so much. I called off all my chips with 7-7.

However, I did manage a 6th place finish in a 397 runner $11 tournament. Earned a shade under $200 for that one.

I might have a recap on that one because there were some interesting hands. And a sick cold deck to take me out.

New Blogroll Entries

I decided to Update my Blogroll with some veterans as well as the newest blogger on the block.

1- The No Leaf Clover (iaatg6296) - A friend of mine for about 5 years, he got introduced through the blogger world through me. If 'iaatg' is too hard for you to pronounce or type, you can call him 'Foley' since that's what I call him.
2- TwoBlackAces
3- Life's a JOPKE (heffmike)
4- Pattern Recognition (PirateLawyer)
5- BWOP (ck31, Black Widow of Poker) - Love the nickname 'Black Widow', since I am a fan of the Black Widow series of Bowling Balls...

I was talking with Julius Goat over the weekend, discussing my Donkavatar. I submitted Goat the picture, he said it was easy and will probably get done over the weekend. I am obviously taking the Angry Gecko slot with this avatar (which is what I always use)... I'm not going to spoil exactly what it is, but I will give a hint... If you're a NASCAR fan, you should recognize this 'character'.

Tonight is THE MOOKIE. After Pointing in 2 early BBT events, I haven't been able to get off the ground lately. Hopefully things will turn around tonight. Make sure to tune in to BuddyDank Radio.

Damn, this is one of my longest posts in a while. Enjoy it, IMO.

There Ya Go, LJ.

Team Lucko scoops; Time Change for Dime Rebuy

LJ Wins NYRPS Event #15 by taking the chip lead early and pretty much never letting it go.

Lucko wins the PPI/Riverchasers because dooses never looses.

I don't have time to write a full recap, but I will give this important announcement now.

NYRPS Event #16, the NL Hold 'em DIME REBUY start time has been moved to 9PM ET. I did this so we can all be shovemonkeys (like we should be) and not have it interfere with the PPI/Riverchasers tournament. Once the rebuy period ends, the PPI tournament starts, and as does the 'poker' part of the Dime Rebuy.

The NYRPS Tournament of Champions will take place April 6 at 10pm ET.

NYRPS Event #15

Ready for some Mixed Hold 'em Action?

One Level is Limit, the Next Level is No Limit. Bring both of your Hold 'em Skills to this one!

password is 'epicfail' as usual.

Be Sure to play the PPI/Riverchasers BBT Tournament as well... I'll be going for back to back FT's in that tournament.

Skillz Game

I missed the first half hour of the skillz game, but once I sat down, I played my first hand and hit a wheel. Hm, this might go good.

Fast Forward 2 hours. I have a good stack and we're on the points bubble. I have a pair and an 8 lo facing an aggressive opponent (wolfshead) with 3 spades and 3 to an 8 lo showing. I decide to call down since he might just be aggro-betting either side. He turns up a Straight Flush Wheel obv.

From there I have to nurse a short stack once we get into the points. I raise and take down a pot with a pair of 9s on third street, then get it in with Q-T-4 of clubs. 3-way all in vs. wolfshead who had an 8 lo draw and scurvydog who had a 6 lo draw. Scurvydog made a 7 lo, but I had the high hand lead with a pair going into seventh... and wolfshead makes a 6 hi straight on 7th obv. No Money, but more points as I went out in 17th.

Tonight is The Mookie. Over/Under on # of people is set at 140.

Heffmike Scoops

17 Players showed up for the 14th Event of the NYRPS: Pot Limit Omaha Hi-Lo. While this was going on, 82 players entered the BBT4-endorsed PPI/Riverchasers Tournament.

I took 7th in the Riverchasers for a nice cash and some points for their leaderboard. Heffmike wound up winning the tournament after a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG Final Table.

In the NYRPS, NumbBono, Heffmike and ferrisbuellr were the final 3 going for the Title. Only heffmike hadn't won a NYRPS Tournament yet so he was looking for a seat, while the other two were looking to remove a seat from the tournament.

However, Heffmike ran gooot yesterday, and won both the major blogger tournaments of the night!

Here is the Updated Top 10:

iaatg6296 234.5
TheSlinger 234.16
NumbBono 175
ferrisbuellr 159
bloodslut 150.9

There are 4 weeks to go in the NYRPS: Mixed Hold 'em, Dime Rebuy NLH, KO NLH and the NLH Main Event. I hope that I draw more as many people thought that multi-tasking 2 different tournaments was too much. (Last Night I was multi-tasking 3, so my play at the NYRPS was squeaky tight) Hopefully with all Hold 'em the next 4 weeks, things will be different.

6th in 4K HORSE

Decided at almost the last minute to play the 4K HORSE tonight.

Good Decision, as I made my first 4K HORSE Final Table (so i'm about 40 behind emptyman) and added $220 to my account. Considering I tokened into this tournament (as I usually do), I'm quite proud.

I also started taking Emptyman's color-coding advise, and it helped me come back from down to 1K in chips early after getting brutalized in Omaha in Razz and Especially Stud in the first hour. I was at the top of the leaderboard most of the night.

I'll probably be playing these tournaments a little more, and I also hit up the 1/2 HORSE Table for about $70 today in 2 sessions.

NYRPS Event #12 Results

Sorry for the lack of pimpage for the event last night: I left my house to go to work at 8:30 AM, and didn't get home until 9:10 PM after work, running to a customer after work, dinner and bowling. I was able to make a header for a blogpost via my iPod Touch, but couldn't put text in.

Oh well. 16 people still signed up for the event, which was Heads Up PLO Shootout, including 4 new players; Bloggers DDionysus (Pokah Dave) and InstantTragedy, along with 2 unknowns, Kazor and Rusty Wilson.

With 16 people for a Heads-Up tournament, there were no byes, and thus no complaints.

My opening match was against PinkyStinky, and we each played VERY tight (lots of limping and checking). He slowly built a 4000 to 2000 lead, which I responded to by turning up the aggression, and thus taking a 4000 to 2000 lead of my own. However, he responded by turning up even more aggression, and took a 3K pot down, and I could never recover.

PinkyStinky joined hoyazo, bloodslut, twoblackaces, heffmike, kazor, Rusty Wilson and Defending NYRPS Champ ChampSampson in the second round.

The winners of the Second Round found the Money, and they were bloodslut, hoyazo, kazor and ChampSampson.

Bloodslut and kazor went to the heads up match which lasted under 20 minutes. kazor took the final hand, the $72 first place prize and a seat at the TOC. bloodslut took his third cash (and first since Event #2) of the series to move into 3rd place on the overall standings.

The Top 10 in Points:
TheSlinger 234.16
iaatg6296 210.5
bloodslut 150.9
NYRambler 140
Oaklandish 128
ferrisbuellr 125
PirateLawyer 109.6
chitwood 103.5
twoblackaces 96
ChampSampson 89

Next Week, for NYRPS Event #13, is Limit Hold 'em. To ensure that you're not bored out of your mind for the first half hour, there is no Double Stack. 1500 Starting Chips.

Mookie #2!

Wheeeee!

A very fun final table, and an fun heads-up match with Blinders who played very aggressive. The Final Hand, he did his usual button raise, I decided to put him in with KQ, he had AJ. A 40% chance to win my second Mookie and the King on the Turn gave me the lead, and two pairing with a Queen on the river ships it to me.

Mookie will have a full Final Table recap on his site tomorrow.

NYRPS Event #11

Tonight is the 11th event in the NYRPS: Good ol' No Limit Hold 'em, but with 6-handed tables.

Password is 'epicfail' as always, and the Tournament ID# is 67602111.

Also, I have added 2 more special tournaments to the series: they are both satellites to the 2 big events in March.

On March 23 and March 30 at 7:30pm ET, there are satellites to the NYRPS Event that night. (For the March 23 tournament, I'm awarding a Token... and you can take the 33 T$ instead in the March 30 tournament).

Both tournaments are Turbo, Regular Stacked, $11 tournaments. NYRPS Points are not awarded for these tournaments. And I will not be playing in these tournaments since I set them up during my Bowling League (yes I set these up knowing I won't be playing them)

[ ] NYRPS is Rigged; [x] I Run Good

A smallish turnout of 13 for the HORSE Event of the NYRPS.

In typical HORSE fashion, the Final Table was strenuous. It took forever but we finally got down to the final 3 of NumbBono, drunkenmonkey87 and Me.

drunkenmonkey was sitting out and a very short stack but was able to squeeze into the bubble when I sucked out on chitwood (K4 > AK) who was also a short stack.

Finally, me and Numb were heads up (just like NYRPS Event #4, the PL Hold 'em) and on air Numb told me I had better finish him off in Hold 'em (my strength) before it got to the other games (his strengths).

So I did, the final hand being A-7 hitting trips vs. his King High.

Results:

1st: NYRambler ($65)
2nd: NumbBono ($39)
3rd: drunkenmonkey87 ($26, a long cry from the $11K he won Sunday!)

Here are the updated standings:

iaatg6296 210.5
TheSlinger 146.66
NYRambler 140
Oaklandish 128
ferrisbuellr 125
bloodslut 110.9
PirateLawyer 109.6
chitwood 103.5
NumbBono 84
Loretta8 68.04
Maniac57 60
twoblackaces 57
pvanharibo 55.9
DukeMuscle 52.2
mookie99 51.2
laudgal 48
ScottMc 38
MiamiDon 34.5
bayne_s 28.8
drunkenmonkey87 26
jeciimd 24

I jump to third, but still behind TheSlinger in my prop bet with the CP Guys. iaatg maintains his lead.

I also take another seat away from the TOC with my second win.

Schedule for the rest of the week:
Tomorrow is Skillz (Limit Hold 'em)
Wednesday is Mookie (obv)
Thursday is the NumbBlowMe Open II (Dime Rebuy FTW)

And next week for the NYRPS will be Groundhog Day; and it will be $5 cubed (1 rebuy and 1 add-on).

NYRPS Event #9: Ride The HORSE!

Tonight is Event #9 of the NYRPS: $11 Double Stack HORSE.

Password is 'epicfail', Tournament ID# is 67601751.

Ship the Skillz!

For most of the first hour of the tournament I was around the starting stack. The second hour I dropped a few then took a bunch of chips from Champ in Razz, then started my bounty hunter mission as the blinds took off. At the second break I had a slight chip lead, but I went nuts in the Stud part of the third hour, then went on a bounty mission at the final table during Hold 'em and Omaha. I wound up with 9 Bounties in the end, after a grueling 4 handed session at the final table, I finally got heads up with nzgreen, and in the second razz hand, we got it all in on sixth... I had 97, he had 98, and he paired on the river, and I got the $80 first prize shipped!

I hope to keep the Blogger run going tomorrow in The Mookie. C Y'all there!

The final three were newcomer laudgal, and regulars iaatg6296 and TheSlinger.

The Final Results Were:

1st: iaatg6296: $80
2nd: laudgal: $48
3rd: TheSlinger: $32

iaatg finally adds on to his Event #1 win and takes a big lead in the standings and takes a seat away in the TOC.
